Context

Property managers were tracking payments, complaints and reminders across a dozen Excel sheets.

Challenge

A dozen Excel sheets already did this job badly. Whatever replaced them had to hold billing, maintenance and resident messaging without being worse than a spreadsheet at any one of them.

Module isolation
Finance, resident records, and messaging each live in their own module. A bug in messaging can't reach the ledger. And the ledger is the one thing here that has to balance.

Trade-offs accepted

Constrained workflows in favour of data integrity. Managers cannot improvise around the ledger, which some of them wanted to.
Shipped accuracy first, features second.

Outcome

Operations moved off spreadsheets and onto one system that residents, managers and accountants all share.
