Hot product data lives in memory. Shoppers see pages load quickly; database load drops.

Trade-offs accepted

Seller onboarding asks for clean, structured data on day one. The catalogue needed far less cleaning afterwards. Onboarding got slower — a seller who just wants one product listed pays that cost before anything goes up.

Outcome

Page loads dropped sharply at p95, and peak traffic stopped dragging shop pages down with it.
